Each month the Observatori Astronòmic del Montsec (OAdM) of IEEC publishes an outstanding image from the observations made there. In August, the protagonist of the image of the month is the Tapdole Nebula.

As if, they were two inhabitants of the interstellar space, these figures formed by clouds of gas and dust are sculpted by the strong winds and stellar radiation inside the nebula IC410, in the constellation of the Auriga. The nebula surrounds the young star cluster NGC 1893, formed about 4 million years ago, which heat and ionize the gas of the emission nebula. Tadpoles are indeed dense areas of this nebula, where stars are forming in the present.
The image was made using the Joan Oró telescope, from the Montsec Astronomical Observatory, using various broadband filters and a total of 1.5 hours of exposure.
