The IEEC receives three students of the programme ‘Joves i Ciència’ from the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera
Youth who have been able to become researchers for a few weeks and so have their first contact with research are Oriol Frigola, under the supervision of Josep M. Trigo, and Andrea del Carmen Fontanet and Daniel Allepuz, tutored by Ignasi Ribas. Students have experienced firsthand the research carried out in the center, either by selecting the stars that will be observed during the first year of the project CARMENES or studying meteorites.

To Oriol, the experience has served to ‘reaffirm that space sciences is what interests me and in what I want to work as. Here I can see the devices used in meteorite research, I did not know it was so complex!’. Oriol starts next year the degree of Aerospace Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
‘This experience has allowed us to work with very good researchers and discuss issues that interest us’, says Andrea, from the Institut Roquetas. Next year she will study the last course of high school and wants to study the degree in Physics.
According to Daniel, from the Escola Garbí at Esplugues de Llobregat, ‘for me to stay at the IEEC has been the first contact with the world of real science and research, and has allowed me to do a deeper dive knowledge and carry on learning ‘. Next year he will study the last course of high school and, like Andrea, he wants to study the degree in Physics.
