Space for the financial world: the IEEC co-organises the 4th CASSINI Hackathon in Barcelona
How can EU Space Data benefit the financial world? This is the question the 4th CASSINI Hackathon addresses, which will be held from 4 to 6 November 2022 in Barcelona.

With the theme "Space for the Financial World", the aim of this edition is showing how the data generated by Earth Observation and the satellite navigation technologies (GNSS) provide solutions to some of the current challenges in insurance, investments and financial services.

The Hackathon will be held online and in-person at 10 locations in Europe and is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs, coders, and business specialists to collaborate on their first space project – with a €1,500 prize fund as well as mentorship packages to the winner, to guide them through technical development, legal rights, and internationalisation. 

The Catalan Edition will be hosted by three co-organisers: Fundació Knowledge Innovation Market (KIMbcn), the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, and the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC).

Hackathon competitors will use Earth Observation and GNSS technologies to develop their own innovative solutions for one of three challenges:

  • Enabling green and sustainable investment.
  • Innovating financial tools and technologies.
  • Advancing global financial intelligence.
