The Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) was established in February 1996 as a private non-profit foundation (NPO) to promote R&D in the space field in Catalonia. The IEEC is a research institute that studies all areas of knowledge and technologies applied to the space sector and space sciences, including astrophysics, cosmology, planetary science, Earth observation, navigation and space engineering. Its mission is to push the frontiers of space research from the scientific and technological fields for the maximum benefit of society. It should also be noted that the Foundation is attached to the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) and forms part of its institutional public sector due to the fact that the Generalitat has a majority involvement in the entity.

This division has more than fifteen years of experience developing instrumentation for high energy physics, astrophysics, and space projects, and is actively involved in collaborations like LHCb, CTA, IAXO and LISA.

The ICCUB institute participates in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) project working in the design of the preamplifier ASIC PACTA and the level 0 analog trigger (TL0R1). The telescopes of the Large Size Telescope (LST) require around 2000 units of the PACTA ASIC and 300 units of the trigger, so it is necessary to automate the quality control process of these devices.

The ICCUB technological Unit is looking a candidate to work in the evaluation of a production run with more than 20000 ASICs. This quality control is needed to verify the ASICs prior installation of the electronics boards.
The candidate will need to perform data analysis for the quality control of the ASICs developed in the ICCUB.
The tasks to perform are the following:

  • Perform the data analysis for the quality control.
  • Develop the software code to analyze the results.
  •   Report of the results.

Participation requirements and selection criteria

The following criteria will be assessed during the selection process:
