The IEEC collaborates with La Pedrera Foundation to bring space closer to young people
Would you like to dedicate yourselves to scientific research or become engineers for a week? Once again, this summer the programme to promote scientific vocations “Scientific Stays” of the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation brings science closer to young students.
Specifically, the project ‘Scientific Stay—NewSpace: discovering the applications of space‘ brings space closer to boys and girls coursing their fourth year of ESO, high school or formative cycles, to show them how it helps us to improve many areas of our society. From 8 to 13 July, the young people selected for the programme will share and live in community for a week during which they will acquire new knowledge through practical activities.
During the stay, students will learn what NewSpace is, what technologies it comprises and how it can help us in our daily lives. They will also discover what kind of research is currently being carried out in the field of space, what “CubeSats” are and what applications they develop.
As a part of the Talent and Society axis of the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia, the Government of Catalonia, the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and the GoSTEM association organise this project within the ‘Scientific Stay’ project framework.
During the stay, students will learn what NewSpace is, which technologies comprise it and how it can help us in our day-to-day life. They will learn what “CubeSats” are and what applications they develop. In this stay, students will act as engineers and researchers!
Registrations for the programme are open until 31 May!
