Enjoy CosmoNits with the IEEC!
On 11 and 25 July and 1 and 8 August, the CosmoCaixa Science Museum organises ‘CosmoNits. Nits d’exploració espacial’ (CosmoNights. Nights of space exploration), a science cycle that includes a whole series of activities, workshops, monologues and shows focused on space themes.
The cycle has the collaboration of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya), through two activities led by experts in the field of space.
Explora: Satèl·lits artificials (Explore: Artificial satellites)
The activity will make it possible to discover what NewSpace is, what technologies it covers and how it can help society on a day-to-day basis, in an enjoyable and fun way. Through a practical activity, participants will interact with satellite communications and experience first-hand how satellites can observe the Earth with different filters.Â
This activity will be available every day of the cycle (11 and 25 July, and 1 and 8 August) from 6 to 10 pm.
‘The grand tour’ with Ignasi Ribas
The Grand Tour will accompany the participant through a complete journey into space. Through a projection made with a software that simulates the known universe, carried out in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), and guided and narrated by scientific disseminator Jackie Faherty, we will view the images captured over time by the different telescopes and space probes. Ignasi Ribas, IEEC’s director, will later resolve all doubts that arise during the projection.
This activity will take place on 25 July and 1 August at 7 pm.
