The comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS reached its closest point to Earth, about 70 million kilometres away, on 12 October. IEEC researchers at the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) and the Montsec Observatory (OdM) captured it with the Joan Oró Telescope two days later. The image is treated with a Larson-Sekanina filter, which allows the removal of circular structures in order to highlight other details. This technique is particularly effective to show the jets coming out of the nucleus of a comet.
