Participate in the international hackathon EUROAVIA Mission during the World Space Week
The online 24-hour-hackathon, which is framed in the World Space Week, counts with the participation of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC — Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya) as an outstanding sponsor and is aimed at students who are enrolled on a space-related degree across Europe.
The teams participating in the Hackathon (of a minimum of two members and a maximum of five) will have to solve space challenges related to satellite data processing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The proposed challenges are: achieving the best accuracy in urban environments (‘Map matching for urban location’), training a neuronal network that classifies satellite images (through the introduction to AI and computer vision for the Earth observation —EO— to get better results), developing a mission design software/toolkit for small satellites missions and developing a smartphone application showcasing the features of EO and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems).
The winning team in each category will receive an economic prize of 1,000 euros given by the Generalitat de Catalunya, IEEC and I2CAT Foundation.
Some days prior to the event you will have the chance to attend webinars about the topics treated in the hackathon as well as cultural activities in order to get to know more about the other participants and its origins.
Participants will benefit from the event by getting to know the leading companies in the space sector in Europe, while receiving advice from experts on technical and business issues. Among the technical mentors, there will be Alberto Garcia-Rigo, from the Project Management & Knowledge Transfer Office at IEEC. All the solutions will be evaluated by a professional jury panel.
Anyone who has interest in the space sector technologies and its business strategies can participate in the hackathon, however it is mainly oriented to students. Register here!
