Last Monday, June 3rd, the 6th Forum of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) took place. The event, which annually brings together all the IEEC members and prominent personalities of the scientific and technological research ecosystem linked to Space, gathered 166 attendees this year. For the first time, the Forum took place in Castelldefels, which hosts the headquarters of the institute since April 2024.

The Conference Room of the Barcelona School of Agri-Food and Biosystems Engineering (EEABB), located at the Mediterranean Technology Park (PMT) of the UPC’s Baix Llobregat Campus in Castelldefels (Barcelona), was the venue for a day full of top-level talks and presentations, with topics as diverse and interesting as solar physics and space weather, the research in microgravity, or IEEC’s current contributions to some of the most relevant European Space Agency (ESA) missions, such as ARRAKIHS or the Einstein Probe.

During the day, several activities were carried out, such as the scientific poster competition or a dynamic quiz, which helped to break the ice between the IEEC members and the guests, among whom were prominent personalities such as Isabel Pérez Grande, Director of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), who also contributed with a talk.

We would like to acknowledge the efforts of all the people who made the event possible, as well as express our gratitude for their attendance to all the members of the IEEC and its four research units: the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB); the Centre for Space Studies and Research of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (CERES, UAB); the Space Science and Technology group of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (CTE, UPC) and the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC).

Thank you very much and see you at the 7th edition!
